Race Alerts for iRacing.

Spoken alerts about the car directly ahead or behind you, and any car close ahead on track, each with its own line for what happened to that car.

What it is

Race Engineer watches the car immediately ahead of you and the car immediately behind you, by class position, and speaks up when one of them gets a black flag, is disqualified, or is called in for mandatory repair. iRacing shows your own flags on screen, but has no on-screen indicator of what flag a specific other car is under. This fills that gap with a spoken line, so you don't have to guess why a rival suddenly slows or pits. It also warns you when any car up to 2 seconds ahead of you on track, a lapped car or one lapping you, any class, is under a black flag.

Alerts that only fire when they're new information

Only the car that matters

The alert only fires for the car that's actually relevant to you right now. The one exactly ahead or exactly behind, by position. If a car already had the flag active before rotating into that slot, you still get told once when it becomes relevant to you; a car that keeps cycling in and out of the slot with the same still-active flag doesn't repeat the alert every time.

Black flag
The car directly ahead or behind just received a black flag.
Disqualified
The car directly ahead or behind was disqualified.
Called for repair
The car directly ahead or behind was called in for mandatory repair.
Black flag close ahead
A car up to 2 seconds ahead of you on track, any lap or class, is under a black flag. A lapped car counts too.

Three languages

Recorded voice, in three languages

Every line is recorded audio in English, Portuguese and Spanish. When the strategy is set or changes, the engineer says it with the numbers: fuel use and pit window. This is how it sounds:

Too much talking on a straight? Settings → Notifications → Audio: Full, Essential (only the short calls, like "Box, box, box") or No audio.

Race alerts questions

Does it announce every flag on track?

No. Only the car directly ahead or behind you in your class, plus any black-flagged car up to 2 seconds ahead of you on track. Flags elsewhere in the field are not announced.

Will it repeat the same alert over and over?

No. Each alert fires once per car per flag transition. If that car keeps the same flag active while cycling in and out of the ahead/behind slot, you're not told again.

Is the voice text-to-speech?

No. These are recordings in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Can I turn these alerts off?

Yes. Settings → Notifications → Audio: Essential keeps only the short calls, No audio turns the sound off. Every alert still shows on screen and on the overlay.
